Dear Sir:

On October 7, 1926, we addressed a letter to the

British Consul General in Manila suggesting the opening of

a commercial radio service between Manila and Hong Kong, to

be operated by the radio service of the Public Works

Department in Hong Kong and our Corporation in Manila, and

attached thereto a draft of a proposed traffic agreement to

be entered into between the two administrations.

information.

In reply the Government of Hong Kong informed us

that while they were agreeable to the opening of a service,

they did not at the time desire to enter into a formal

traffic agreement but proposed instead that after a year's

experience of operation under an informal arrangement, the

matter would be further considered.

The Hong Kong-Manila circuit was opened on July

23, 1927, and has been in daily satis factory operation since

that time with a slow but promising increase in volume of
